About

Callyn Bedker

Growing up, my parents taught me to work hard, enjoy what you do and that people matter.  That is why I do what I do; I thoroughly enjoy my work as an estate planner and elder law attorney. I find that each person I meet has a story, and that story matters.

My History.

I was raised just northwest of the Twin Cities, in Buffalo, MN. While in high school, I met my husband, Alex. We were married in 2016 and moved out to southwestern Minnesota so Alex could pursue his career with a seed company.  We welcomed our first little one, Clara, in May of 2020.

I attended the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities from 2008 to 2012, where I pursued my Bachelor's in Political Science, Global Studies and History. During my time at the U, I earned an internship with the House of Representatives and had the pleasure of working with three Representatives for a semester.

From there, I enrolled at the University of St. Thomas, School of Law. While at UST, I had the opportunity to participate in two externships: one with a major corporation and the second with a law firm.  I was admitted to practice law in Minnesota in 2015. Soon after, I started as an Associate Attorney with an estate planning and elder law firm in far southwestern Minnesota. In that role, I traveled the state, visiting individuals from all walks of life. The clients I met along the way were wonderful to work with and provided interesting challenges to my day to day practice. In 2019, I was accepted into the Iowa State Bar and maintain my licensure.

I made the decision to open my own firm soon after my daughter was born. By making this leap, my goal is to continue teaching and working with clients to set up their estate plans, pass on their businesses and protect what they find important.

Since graduating, I have taught the public at community events, professionals in continuing education seminars, and have been involved in private meetings on the topics of Medical Assistance and Estate Planning. I assumed the role as the Chairperson for the Minnesota State Bar Association's Medical Assistance Committee in 2017, and was appointed as a voting member of the MSBA's Elder Law Section Governing Council soon after. I still maintain these roles.

Outside of work, I enjoy being with family and friends, renovating our home and attending auctions. I am a novice with a sewing machine, with all of the best intentions, and am trying my hand at wood working.
